At the time of our W.C.P.R. trip, I was 61 years old. I am an engineer and have worked in an administrative job all my life. In January 1985, I had my aortic heart valve replaced, and in March, 2000 I had a defibrillator installed to correct a rhythm problem.
Except when exercising to prepare for a wilderness trip I am a couch potato. So if your physical condition is holding you back from a trip, forget it. Start exercising and go on the trip but plan to accommodate your capabilities.
I have been on nine other wilderness trips: eight into Quebec and one into Quetico. I will return to woodland C.PP. it is a true wilderness, and true wildernesses are about gone in Quebec because of the access roads built to service power lines for HydroQuebec.

At the time of our trip to Woodland Caribou P.P., I was 56 years old. I taught high school mathematics in Ohio for 32 years before retiring in 1999.
I made my first fly-in fishing trip out of Red Lake, Ontario in 1968. Having fallen in love with Canadian bush fishing, I made more than 20 additional bush trips since then, many with my long time fishing buddy, Walt Price.
Also, I made two fishing trips for salmon and one hunting trip for brown bear to Alaska and one fishing trip to Great Bear Lake in 1969.
