Slide 1 In this lesson,
we're going to take a closer look at a few things
on our topographic map. First look at the Map Number. For this map it's "52 M/3". Now look at the grid line numbers along the bottom of the map. I pointed to grid lines 57, 58, and 59 on this example map. The grid lines count from west to east - from left to right. The grid lines along the right side of the map increment from south to north. We're going to use the map number |
| and grid lines to specify a spot on the map. I marked this map with a black dot inside of a red diamond. Let's put together a Universal Transverse Mercator grid location for this dot on the map. |
