In 1999, longtime Canadian Bush companions, Walt Price and Mel Funk decided to make our first ever canoe / fishing trip to Quetico Provincial Park. We covered about 90 miles in two weeks. With both of us being in our 50’s we came away from that trip wishing we had planned a trip with more fishing time and less traveling time.

Two years later, with the help of Albert Rogalinski at Goldseekers Outfitters, Walt and I put together a two week trip to Woodland Caribou Provincial Park in northwestern Ontario. We decided to rent a canoe from Albert, fly in to Haven Lake, and paddle out to our pickup point on Leano Lake.

The following is a day-by-day account of our trip.
